When individuals consider hair transplant surgery, it is typically because they are experiencing balding or thinning hair. However, there are a few other reasons some might consider hair transplant surgery even though they have a full head of hair.
Hair Transplant Surgery Techniques
When a patient comes in for a hair transplant consultation and is deemed an appropriate candidate, our surgeons typically discuss the two different hair transplant techniques that we offer, follicular unit extraction (FUE) and follicular unit transplantation (FUT).
Our FUE technique typically utilizes the one-of-a-kind NeoGraft technology. Neograft is the most advanced technology in the hair transplant industry. NeoGraft is different from other FUE methods because it uses a vacuum-like suction to extract and implant follicles, making it more efficient and quicker than most other methods. Patients also love that there are no incisions when this technique is used, which makes for a faster recovery.
The FUT technique, commonly referred to as ‘the strip method’, is another great hair restoration option. This technique is typically faster and less expensive than the FUE technique. This procedure is different from FUE as the grafts are obtained from a strip of hair that is excised from the back of the scalp. The patient is left with a linear scar on the back of the scalp that is easily covered with a longer hair style.
Thinning or Balding Scalp
Thinning and/or balding is one of the main reasons why someone would consider a hair transplant. Either hair transplantation method can be used to achieve fuller, thicker hair. In some cases, more than one procedure is needed depending on the desired density.
Hairline Improvement
Some individuals may seek out hair transplant surgery to get the hairline of their dreams. Whether they are trying to improve a receding hairline or just want their hairline to be more aesthetically pleasing, hair transplant surgery can help. Again, either hair transplant technique can be utilized.
Fuller, Thicker Facial Hair
Hair transplant surgery isn’t only for the scalp. Patients are also able to achieve fuller, thicker eyebrows and beards. Just like all of the procedures listed above, this procedure is also done in-office under local anesthesia. Either technique can be used and results are permanent.
Hair transplant surgery is a long-term hair restoration procedure that requires very little downtime and looks completely natural. For any of the above listed procedures, full results can be seen after 12-15 months.
