Hair Injection Therapy: Non-Surgical Hair Loss Treatment With UFP Nurse Injectors

Hair injection therapy has quickly become a popular non-invasive hair restoration treatment amongst both men and women experiencing mild to moderate hair loss or thinning. If you are a male or female in the earlier stages of hair loss or thinning, and looking for a non-invasive hair restoration treatment, you may want to meet with one of our skilled nurse injectors at Utah Facial Plastics to find out if hair injection therapy can restore your once fuller head of hair.

Hair Injection Therapy For Hair Loss

Hair injection therapy is a treatment that is the most effective when performed on those who are in the early stages of hair loss and especially those who are being affected by androgenic alopecia (male pattern baldness). Men who experience male pattern baldness typically notice thinning on the crown or receding hairline. Women suffering from female pattern hair loss will notice their part slowly becoming wider. Other signs of hair thinning and loss are:

  • Gradual thinning on the top of the head
  • Patchy or circular bald spots
  • Hair suddenly loosening
  • Scaling that happens in patches over the head
  • Hair becoming significantly thinner or won’t grow

Hair Injection Therapy Process

Did you know platelet rich plasma can be used to stimulate healthy cells and new growth? In this case it can be used to improve hair quality and stimulate dormant hair follicles. In order to obtain platelet rich plasma one of our skilled nurses will need to perform a blood draw. Once the blood is obtained the sample is then put into a machine called a centrifuge (separation process). A centrifuge machine spins the blood sample at a rapid rate, separating the three layers of the blood. When the blood goes through this process, the platelet rich plasma is the colorless part of the blood and is found on the bottom of the tube because of its high density.

Plasma is the concentration of platelet cells and white bloods, which are both rich in growth factors. Growth factors are the proteins that stimulate growth of specific tissues, in this case it helps to repair damaged hair follicles.

Next, your nurse will extract the platelets and will carefully begin with your hair injection therapy treatment. The areas of the scalp that have been affected by hair loss are injected with platelet rich plasma. The entire process from start to finish takes approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour. Keep in mind that hair injection therapy does require at least 3-6 treatments for best possible results, at least 4 weeks apart when using the PRP alone.

When done as a series, hair injection therapy can be successful. This treatment helps regrow hair because the platelets contain growth proteins that stimulate the hair follicles to produce thicker strands of hair. If you’re looking for an extra boost, hair injection therapy can be paired with ACell treatments. When ACell is added on, it adds an extra boost because of its stem cell factors. Hair injection therapy with Acell is done in one treatment and may be repeated if necessary, in 1-5 years, which offers the option of a one time treatment vs. a series or PRP alone.
